On 2nd of February, 2021, Icare Sustainably International officially joined the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). We are so happy with the opportunity to be part of this network of people working towards the SDGs. 

The UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) mobilizes scientific and technical expertise from academia, civil society, and the private sector to support practical problem solving for sustainable development at local, national, and global scales. The SDSN has been operating since 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The SDSN is building national and regional networks of knowledge institutions, solution-focused thematic networks, and the SDG Academy, an online university for sustainable development.

JCI is a global membership based non-profit organization of young active citizens from 120 countries between the age of 18-40. It is an organization which empowers young active citizens into tomorrow’s leaders. In Bangladesh, JCI has been a major contributor of change and innovation to the region, since its inception.

JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan one of the 17 local chapters operating in Bangladesh and currently is one of the top local organizations of JCI Bangladesh in terms of efficiency points. JCI Dhaka Cosmopolitan plays an integral role in doing development work in the society in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of United Nations, especially in the underprivileged community and schools through its various community projects.

Icare has partnered with 3 organizations from Bogota, Colombia. They have a successful bicycle project which we plan to replicate in Kenya.

About Jolita

Jolita or Tata as her family and friends call her, is a development worker since 2015 having been involved in INGOS such as Oxfam, World Vision and VSO. While development work is her passion, she actually began as a Researcher for a government cultural agency in the Philippines after which, she transferred to the private sector as a Research content writer and later Business Risk analyst for a consultancy firm.

Interested in interacting with different types of people from different ethnicities and races, Jolita loves traveling, (but on a budget) and immersing herself in everything the place has to offer. She once lived in the south of Germany for two years for her Masters, Bangladesh in 2018 where she did volunteer work and, also briefly in Singapore for her university fieldwork.

At present, Jolita is working for a German development agency in her country.

About Salem

Salem Koredele Elegbede is from Benin. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the African School of Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance from Central University. He currently supports the financial management of the West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land use (WASCAL) in Benin.

He also contributes to other WASCAL activities including: the implementation of the PAUWES (Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences), CLIMAFRI (CLIMate-sensitive Adaptation strategies to reduce Flood RIsk) and H2 Atlas-Africa projects in Benin. In this respect, he has contributed to a proper financial flow of information between donors and management.

Moreover, he worked with Ecobank Ghana Ltd, contributing to an efficient bank service to customers. With his academic and professional background, he has solid skills in financial management, project management and monitoring, and logistics. His research interests are public policy and governance, development finance, risk management.
