The indigenous communities can be part of the voting process if they have more than 18 years, have been registered and own their citizen document. However, some of these ethnic communities are illiterate, doesn’t speak spanish, live far away from major cities, sometimes with a distance by river of 7 or more hours, that’s why a considerable part of them doesn’t participate in the democratic elections, or are simply motivated by money or other illegal influences, in order to affect their decision in favor of particular candidates.
